Come a Little Bit Closer,” coaxes premier rock & roll revival band, Jay and the Americans. They burst on the scene in the early ‘60s with their clean-cut looks, melodic harmony and wide appeal, and are still creating excitement wherever they appear today! Kenny Vance, founding member of Jay and The Americans, now heads up the sweet sounds of doo-wop masters The Planotones. “Looking for an Echo,” their signature song is also a major motion picture about an oldies group trying to make a comeback. Rev up your engine and be the “Leader of the Pack” when the greatest girl group of the ‘60s, the Shangri-Las’ roll into town to perform. With three great artists on stage, this is one triple-bill you won’t forget!

A lot has changed for AMT favorite Billy Ray Cyrus since he last appeared here in 2005. Jan. 17 - Chubby Checker with Otis Day & The Knights - American Music Theatre, 2425 Lincoln Hwy. E. (Rt. 30), Lancaster, PA 17602, 717-397-7700, 800-648-4102. Who is the only artist to have a song become #1 on the charts twice? None other than South Philly High’s own Ernest Evans. Who, you may ask? You know him better as Chubby Checker and the song was “The Twist.” Chubby pioneered the dance song craze with other hits like “The Fly,” “The Pony,” “The Limbo Rock,” and “Let’s Twist Again.” When DeWayne Jessie took the role of Otis Day, lead singer of the fictional Otis Day and the Knights, in the movie Animal House, he not only played Otis—he became Otis! Since then, the fictitious group took to the road, touring and performing party hits like “Louie, Louie,” “Shamalama Ding Dong,” and of course, their infamous toga party rendition of “Shout.”

AMT favorites Scot Bruce and Mike Albert perform as the young and old Elvis, respectively, to consistently sold out audiences, and are widely considered the premier Elvis impersonators of our time. Scot Bruce’s Elvis act is revered all over the world—places like Japan, Brazil and China. Mike Albert has been featured on Oprah Winfrey and Inside Edition, and often appears with Elvis’ original group, the Jordanaires. Long live the King!

In fact, the three wins of Elvis’ 14 Grammy nominations were for gospel recordings— including the album How Great Thou Art (1967). In his own special way, the one and only Mike Albert reveals Elvis’ Gospel side. His renditions of these sacred songs are so realistic, you’ll think Elvis himself has returned!
